Hillsboro Heritage Days and Annual Holiday Open House

I apologize for my absence in blogging this year.  Unfortunately, I have had writer's block.  I hope to start writing again as much as I can.  Just wanted to let my readers know that I will be at the Hillsboro Heritage Days this weekend!  I'm looking forward to this fall event, and looks like we will be having some fall chill in the air to go with it.

 Last Saturday, I was at the Purcellville Town Market, and the Purcellville Treasure was taking place as well.  It was a nice day, but a bit chilly.  The details of the Hillsboro Heritage Days are in the flyer to the left. I was recently at the Holiday Inn for the Garden Club conference - lots of ladies who liked to shop!! Always a good thing for me as a vendor! See pictures from Holiday Inn and Purcellville below.

On Saturday,  I will have lots of fall home decor, including  table runners, place mats, & pillows.  Also, aprons, pillows, kids and sports pillows, kids'aprons , tote bags, small travel bags, pink ribbon items,  infinity scarves, cross body pouches, and more.  Come and check it out.

Arm in a sling, Marketplace & Elle's Niche

Greeting from Becky's Pillow Shop!  I apologize for my disappearance for the last several months, but I've had a major case of writer's block due to some health issues.  In February, I fell and broke my shoulder and was in a sling for 8 weeks, and couldn't sew anything.  That's not all I " Couldn't DO" !  I couldn't  drive, do laundry, or even wash my hair without help! My left handed writing left a lot to be desired too!   It's pretty humiliating when you have to have help for bathing and tying your shoes!   On top of the broken shoulder I have had some other health issues going on, and just didn't feel like writing.  I have been in  Physical Therapy for 2 months. Unfortunately, I have what they call " frozen shoulder"so it's taking a long time.   Although, it is finally showing some improvement!

The good news is I am back in full swing with my business.  I have some new ventures since I last wrote.  I have my items in 2 brick and mortar stores now.  The first one happened back in April, and there is a group of craft vendors renting a booth at the " Marketplace in Sharpsburg" Maryland.

Then, the real exciting news is that there is a new store in Charles Town called " Elle's Niche" which has all handmade items, and I am one of the artisans!  See pictures below! I made the small cosmetic bags,  tooth fairy pillows, small signature soap drawstring bags, aprons, laundry bags (on the tub) messenger bags, and a couple of nautical bags in the nautical display! The store is located in Charles Town at 103 West Liberty Street and has about 18 different artisans so far!  You can find home made soaps, signs, paintings, home decor items, dolls, baby quilts, & much more so if you are near by come check it out!

 My next show is this Saturday, June 27, at Morgan Grove Farmer's Market in Shepherdstown and I am excited about my new " flour sack towel aprons, July 4th pillow covers, new cosmetic bags.  I will also have tooth fairy pillows, pouches, beach bags, totes, & kids aprons & pillows!  Shepherdstown is having their big " Streetfest" festival on Saturday also.   So if you are in the area on Saturday, come check it out. The farmers' market is a little outside of town down past the Morgan Grove Park.

New Tools & Clearance Sales

This year, I have been slow to get back to work, but trying to take a small break after a very busy Christmas season! Yet I am excited about the New Year and New tools I now have for my business!   I am working on getting my shop ready for the new year, doing inventory of supplies & merchandise.  I am also starting to learn a NEW bookkeeping program, which is going to be quite a challenge, since bookkeeping isn't my forte! Ha !  I have been learning how to use my NEW sewing machine, however there so much I don't know so am going to start classes on Wednesday.   I also got a NEW phone on January 1st.

Goodbye 2014 & Welcome 2015!

Happy New Year !

2014 was a good year for my business, and it has grown a lot partly due to my new line items I started this year and also due to one new farmers’ markets I have been participating in once a month.   As a result, I have made new friends, and got involved in some crafting groups where other craft business owners  network and give each other advice.   This year I have added infinity scarves, backpacks, cosmetic bags, to my brand.  I would like to thank all of my fans who have helped my business in some fashion this year.      

I had a very stressful year in 2014 due to my 2 aging parents with dementia.  I had to move my dad to a new home two times within 3 months, and I didn't have any help from family.  There were times when I thought I was going to lose my sanity,  but with friends praying for me, God helped me survive  the storms! So, I am praying for a much better 2015 with much less stress! 
  I got some unique surprises this Christmas including a package from Santa Claus, and also got some other gifts I wasn't expecting!    It took me a while to guess who played Santa,  but I finally figured it out a few days after Christmas! 

Also, I got a nice new toy for Christmas to myself and my business!!   A new sewing machine Viking Opal 650!  I am really excited about what I will be able to do with this new machine, and it will definitely make my life a lot easier and be beneficial to my business!!

Today, I am off to see my Dad at the nursing home and to pick up a much needed brand new cell phone!  The one I currently have has been replaced 3 times in 2.5 years, and currently has it’s own agenda . Lol.  After charging it all night, it sometimes says the battery is below 5 percent!  This has gone on for a while now & I finally decided it was not the battery but the phone!  Anyway, I am excited about what the new year will bring .  Hope you all have a Happy, Healthy & Safe New Year!  May God bless you in 2015!
