Fall Season Schedule & Christmas Open House

It's hard to believe that it is October already and soon we will be in the holiday season. I have been very busy doing a lot of sewing and I even made a couple Christmas aprons already! I am also busy taking care of my Dad and will soon have a lot more to do with gathering paperwork for him at the nursing home.  I have hit many roadblocks trying to get power of attorney, but finally today is the day!  It will make things much easier now!   

I have several vendor events line up for the rest of the year and one of them is my Open House on the weekend before Thanksgiving.  See dates and times below.  

Anyone is welcome!  Stop in and see my new " Shop" in my house, and have some light refreshments and get some Christmas shopping done a little early!  I will also be taking special orders for Christmas that weekend!

I am working on some more messenger bags for Christmas this year.  I sold 2 recently to one of the vendors at Purcellville.  He bought one for the little girl in the picture.  As you can see the strap was so long it came down to her ankles.   Later I found her and adjusted the strap as far as it would go so it would be easier for her to carry.  I asked her what she had in the bag, and she said " my stuff".  I think she had some toys in it. She was so cute, probably around 7 years old.
  The small drawstring bags pictures below have suede or faux suede strings, and are great for jewelry, or a child to put small toys or change in it, or you can use as a small gift bag or  gift card. I  will be making more out of Christmas fabric. They would be great to fill with candy for  a gift card to someone for Christmas.  Stay tuned!

Apple Butter, My Newest Line & Celebrity Status??

This past weekend I was a vendor at the Apple Butter Festival in Berkeley Springs .  I was located right outside of Lion's Lair Unique Gift Store.  You can find some of my aprons & bags in there.   I set up with my friend Michelle from Shepherdstown, WV who makes homemade soap. My Wild Rose Soap  is the name of her company.  I covered for her on Saturday and a friend from Martinsburg came and helped me.   The weather could have been better but at least it wasn't pouring down rain.  On Saturday, I was freezing, Sunday was better with the sun out but then got cold again.  I sold lots of small tooth fairy pillows and here is my newest " Spanish" one. It will be available on Etsy soon!  Though it was supposed to be a " cowboy" pillow, it ended up looking like e the Frito Bandito so I decided to make it a Spanish Tooth Fairy pillow!   Some of you are too young to remember what the Frito Bandito was, but a commercial from a long time ago. Uh oh, telling my age now.  Ha!

On Sunday, a lady came by and said she was a reporter from the local paper and asked to take my picture. Today I received a message from Lion's Lair employee that it was in the paper!!

It's a little fuzzy, but that's about as good as I can make it since  it was emailed to me from a picture someone took.  When Michelle & I decided to set up together she suggested that I make some cosmetic bags for her soap, so I made several and that's my newest line item!

Falling into Fall Auction

I am excited to tell you about a special event.  Sept. 26, starting at 8pm, there will be a fall auction I am participating in with a group of crafters on Facebook.  Everything has a fall theme, and is handmade.  The apron below is what I have submitted.  This apron says , " Gobble, Gobble, Gobble,  Gobble til you wobble".  It is a medium size. I have several new pillows and aprons so check it out!

 I had a good time at the Berryville Yard Sale on Saturday, (Sept. 20, it was delayed a week because of the rain).  The picture below is of some little girls admiring my items.   Next event will be at the Purcellville Town Market on October which will be there 1 year anniversary celebration!  Looking forward to that.   Then October 11-12 is the Apple Butter Festival in Berkeley Springs, WV.  I will be set up in front of Lion's Lair Unique Gift Shop and will be teaming up a friend who makes home made soap.  Her company is Wild Rose Soap Co. I will have a new line of " beauty bags " to go along with her soaps.   Lion's Lair is at 81B N. Washington St. a couple blocks down from the State park which is in the center of town.  This is a huge event and there will be a parade Saturday morning, and lots of vendors, and other activities going on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

This is a fun event for the entire family, so you don't want to miss it!

Famous Singers & Nice Surprises

On Saturday, I had a great time at the Patsy Cline Block Party!  It started off with the Elvis Impersonator who had a great voice, though he was kind of short and his hips  just didn't move like Elvis's.   He did a wonderful job on How Great Thou Art, and I got a short video of Burning Love, however, it was taking to long to download.

 I saw a couple of my friends there from my church, and later on was waving to one who was standing on the corner, but she didn't see me, and two other people walking up the hill waved.  I thought I wasn't waving at them, but when I looked it was my best friend from childhood and her Mom.  We were best friends from 5th grade all the way through High School!  I couldn't believe it .  I was so excited to see them.  She had read my blog so knew I was going to be there, and decided to come.  It was a very nice surprise!!  

The Patsy Cline Block Party had local music for 2 hours, some really great singers.  They also had the Patsy Cline official singer who is in the middle in the pink shirt.  Jimmy Fortune made an appearance also, and I got a quick snapshot of him and Patsy Cline's husband as they walked by my booth!  There was a concert that night with Jimmy Fortune and another group at the park.
